Dear Academy Learners,
We’re down to the last two weeks in Term 3, which ends at 5:00 pm on Monday, November 29. If you are working toward the New York Certified Peer Specialist (NYCPS or NPCSP-P) certification posttests and evaluations for the 13 Core courses must be completed prior to the end of the term. The next opportunity to take courses and tests toward certification will be in January.
For your planning purposes, the Academy calendar for 2022:
· Term 1 Open 1/7/22 Close 4/1/22
· Term 2 Open 5/2/22 Close 7/22/22
· Term 3 Open 8/29/22 Close 11/18/22
Tele-health Peer Support Continuing Education
We have been recording and releasing new continuing education courses (for renewal or upgrade of the NYCPS/NYCPS-P) this fall in the new Telehealth Peer Support (ThPS) series. The following course are now available:
· ThPS-00 Overview of ThPS and the APS Training Series
· ThPS-01 Competencies of ThPS
· ThPS-02 Outreach & Engagement
· ThPS-03 Communication Techniques
· ThPS-04 Providing and Linking to Needed Supports and Services
Two more courses are scheduled to be released in the coming weeks. To register for one or more of these courses, follow the instructions in the Quick Reference Guide, select the category: Continuing Education and search for ThPS.
Our CE (continuing education) courses are based on webinars and workshops provided by members of our network of community partner organizations, such as the Talking About Tobacco series. These short (typically 1 to 1.5 hour) courses are a great way to learn from leading practitioners in the field, stay up to date with the latest developments, and earn NYPSCB approved continuing education toward renewal or upgrade of the certification. APS Networking Meeting
Our APS Virtual Networking / Support for Supporters continues to meet every Tuesday from 5:15 – 6:30 pm Eastern. This week we feature a creative expression session with our APS Intern Lisa Spencer. She will share some of her own poetry and invite attendees to share some of their own writings and reflections. Register to attend.
