Virtual Community - News You Can Use! 

 

The attached Virtual Community News Digest is a collection of news for the peer workforce in New York State, including deadlines, upcoming events, online resources, opportunities to participate in discussions and research and the latest job openings.

 

Upcoming deadlines:

  • Fri., Sept. 29 is the last day to submit a workshop proposal for the 4th Annual New York City Behavioral Health Peer Conference (Peer Services, Value Added to the Continuum) to be held in NYC on Dec 1. Click here to download the proposal application
  • Fri., Oct. 6 is the last day for the Early Bird rate for the NY Peer Specialist Certification Board (NYPSCB) Conference that is to be held in White Plains on October 26 and 27. Registration is open now, and the Schedule, Scholarship, and Sponsorship applications will be available shortly on their website
  • Mon., Oct. 9 is the last day to sign up for the ThriveAtWork training starting Oct. 16. An application is available on their website

This issue of the News Digest includes a live webinar on Peer Specialists in Crisis Services, a survey by the NYC Peer Support & Community Health Workforce Consortium, and an article by Patricia Deegan on the article topic of Peer Specialists are Not Clinicians, with a place for you to comment and connect with others on this topic. In the coming months, we will be looking for volunteers to lead and moderate a variety of discussions and this is a great way to get started!
