Dear APS Learners,

Welcome back! Term 2 2019 will begin at noon on Monday, April 29.

All of the courses and tests  have been reset, so you again have 2 attempts in Term 2 to pass the test for each course.

If you need assistance with anything related to the courses, send email to Maryam, our user support specialist:  academyofpeerservicesnyomh@gmail.com

Note: If you have questions about your certification or recertification, visit the New York Peer Specialist Certification Board website http://nypeerspecialist.org. We are a separate organization and do not have authority or access to answer certification questions. Contact information for the Certification Board is on their site.

Updates for Term 2

We made improvements to most of the 48 existing courses, based on your feedback. We review and consider comments you make in the Course Evaluations, and work during the one month break between terms toward incorporating as many of the comments as possible to make the courses a better experience for all. We appreciate all  of your suggestions. One example of a requested change was to include more photos of from the early days of the movement in the Historical Roots of the Peer Support Movement course. Gayle Bluebird, one of the historians of the movement, graciously agreed to review the course and she provided many personal photos, which led to the creation of a virtual History Gallery on the Virtual Community website as well as in the course. A heartfelt thank you to Gayle Bluebird for her help with the revisions to the course. And a big thank you to all of our subject matter experts, beta reviewers, and advisory council members who work with our team.

Under development now

A few new courses are planned for the coming terms and one new course under development is how Peers can Support Financial Wellness. Have you ever had personal experience with gaining or regaining economic self-sufficiency or financial wellness? We are gathering stories to include in this course and other venues. Your story might give hope to others financial wellness is possible. The deadline to let us know you want your story included is April 30. To learn more, click here.

So again, welcome back! We hope you enjoy the spring and this next part of your learning journey with us.

Thank you
