Dear Academy Learners,

Thank you for your participation in Term 1 2021. We are now in week 4 of our 12-week term. Our team has been steadily adding approved Continuing Education (CE) offerings covering a variety of topics. Course Catalog Term 1, 2021.

In addition to the Academy website, you also have free access to the APS Virtual Learning Community (VLC). The VLC website (https://aps-community.org)  is a companion site to the Academy of Peer Services that provides a regular News Update, an active and regularly updated jobs bank, connection to networking meetings, and Calendar with events of interest for those in the peer support workforce. (Click here for the latest News Update.)

Several APS opportunities to learn and connect will be available in the upcoming weeks.
Save these dates and watch the next News Update for more information.

•        February 2, 5:15-6:30 pm: Weekly Tuesday APS VLC Networking meetings will begin again to feature an educational segment provided by members on topics of interest to our community. This is a great way to connect with others and learn something new.

•        February 5, 12:00–1:00 pm: The New York City Peer and Community Health Worker Workforce Consortium and APS VLC will offer a weekly Jobs Club, co-facilitated by Curtis Dann-Messier and Rita Cronise on employment search strategies and support.

•        February 18, 3:00–4:30 pm: APS VLC webinar:  Talking About Tobacco, featuring stories about different relationships some of us have had with tobacco and the role of peer support in talking about tobacco use. This won’t be about quitting, but about peers helping peers find what works best in the relationships people have with tobacco.

These and Many More Resources to Check out:

If you want to receive the News Update click: Subscribe to the Virtual Learning Community mailing list to subscribe (This is an ‘opt in’ list that you have to choose to join, not the APS News Forum, which we reserve mostly for course related announcements.)

Among the resources we regularly share through the Virtual Learning Community is a new resource that can help us all through the upcoming winter months from our colleague, Peggy Swarbrick: Winter Wellness Planner.

Finally, please review the Academy Terms of Use, which are a few simple rules you agreed to follow when you enrolled in the Academy of Peer Services. It is important to abide by these terms to ensure fairness and equity. If you are receiving assistance with courses from someone other than our User Support staff, please direct them to read these rules as well. We frequently encounter well-meaning helpers who place our learners in jeopardy of losing their privileges to take courses in the Academy. So please take a minute to review the Academy Terms of Use.

As always, if you have questions please send email to Maryam, our End User Support Specialist at: academyofpeerservicesnyomh@gmail.com.
